WTCC – Kevin Gleason will start at Monza

Kevin Gleason will be the first American to compete in the WTCC under TC1 regulations. The former resident of WestCoast Racing in the TCR International Series will compete this weekend in Monza (Italy) at the wheel of a second Lada Vesta entered by RC Motorsport alongside Frenchman Yann Ehrlacher.

“I have followed the discipline closely in recent years and even attended several events, commented Kevin Gleason. I was impressed by the level of professionalism and quality of the drivers and jumped at the chance when the opportunity presented itself with RC. »

A late confirmation

Kevin Gleason will test the Lada Vesta for the first time this Tuesday April 25 in Magny-Cours (Nièvre).

“The only negative point is that things were done very late and I'm only going to discover the car today. I therefore remain modest about my ambitions at Monza, underlined Kevin Gleason. We were still working on a return to the TCR International Series until last weekend and it was a bit of a surprise to find myself a week later on the WTCC grids. »

Kevin Gleason distinguished himself in TCR by taking 5th place in the Championship in 2015 with two victories and another success on his partial program last year. The American has been riding a Honda Civic for the past two years.
