WTCC – The RML mourns the departure of Yvan Muller

It is a successful era which will end this season. By joining Citroën Racing next year, Yvan Muller will put an end to four years of collaboration with Team RML, with whom, still at the wheel of a Chevrolet, the Alsatian won two of his three world championship titles. “Naturally, everyone at RML will be sorry to see Yvan leave at the end of the season, said team manager Ray Mallock. He has been a key supporter and a perfect ambassador for the RML over the many years we have worked with him. However, we imagine that it was not an easy decision for him; we fully support Yvan in his movement and wish him the best for the future. I am extremely proud of our achievements. »

A statement to which the Alsatian of course echoed: “It was a very difficult decision for me, he explained. RML allowed me to win a lot of races and conquer two world championship titles. We have worked incredibly hard together over the past four seasons which have been years of great personal satisfaction for me. I would like to thank everyone in the factory for giving me their trust and I hope that the successes achieved together over the years have enabled us to assert the RML?s place on the sporting landscape. »

As for the future, Ray Mallock first wants to finish his collaboration with his French pilot in the best possible way. “Our short-term objectives are clear, we are focused on the end of the season to finish on a good note, with another world title for Yvan and the team. » Which seems to be off to a good start, Muller, who has an insolent lead at the top of the Drivers' ranking, could mathematically be titled at the next American round, at the beginning of September, in Sonoma, California. “In the medium term, the RML group will continue to bring success regardless of the formula in which it competes”. With the WTCC still as the main objective: “ We hope to be back in 2014 with the new technical regulations, one way or another.”
