WTCC – Motegi replaces Suzuka

The Twin Ring Motegi will host the WTCC this year instead of the Suzuka track, visited for the last four seasons.

WTCC – Motegi replaces Suzuka

The 2015 calendar WTCC has been updated by the FIA. From September 11 to 13, competitors in the World Touring Car Championship will travel to Japan this year, but will head to Tochigi prefecture, 145 km north of the capital Tokyo, on the Twin Ring Motegi circuit which replaces Suzuka for this season. The current track where the Japanese Grand Prix takes place Formula 1 had been visited during the last four seasons.

“We have decided to organize the 2015 round of the WTCC of Japan in Motegi by mutual agreement with Eurosport Events Ltd (EEL). EEL has no doubt that the Twin Ring Motegi road circuit will showcase the discipline and vice versa, and I am sure that many motorsport fans will rediscover the true pleasure of the track by watching the battles of the best touring car championship in the world. » explains Hiroshi Soda, president of MobilityLand, promoter of the event.

The 4,8 km track, used in particular by the Super GT, the Super Formula and which hosted theIndyCar on its oval, will open the traditional Asian tour at the end of the calendar.
