WTCC – Muller and Menu shine at Portimao

If Gabriele Tarquini (Seat Leon WTCC) had taken pole ahead of Yvan Muller (Chevrolet), the Lukoil Racing driver was unable to resist the Championship leader who made a very good start to take control of the race until to the finish line by winning a short lead (three tenths) over the poleman who still resisted the pressure from Rob Huff (Chevrolet) who returned to third position at the expense of Norbert Michelisz (BMW 320 TC ) who completes the top five ahead of Alain Menu (Chevrolet) who did his best to improve his ninth position on the grid.

Starting from the front row alongside Pepe Oriola (Seat Leon WTCC) thanks to the reverse grid of Race 2, Alain Menu was keen to win this race while he played the character of Michel Vaillant. The Swiss quickly took the advantage over the Spaniard and only had to control his race to win at Portimao ahead of the Seat driver who took a good second place ahead of Tom Coronel (BMW), while Rob Huff and Yvan Muller complete the top five after battling for a long time. The direct victim of this clash was Gabriele Tarquini who had to give up as the Frenchman tried to overtake him.
