WTCC – Tarquini wins, Honda takes the treble in Slovakia

Gabriele Tarquini returns to victory and offers Honda a first success since their return last year! Starting in pole position, the 2009 world champion in the discipline held on and carried his Civic to the checkered flag. At the forefront since yesterday morning, the Italian quickly escaped without ever giving a glimpse of the slightest hope for his opponents.

Behind him, we find two other Honda Civics! His teammate Tiago Monteiro finished second, just behind Norbert Michelisz of the Zengo team. Throughout the race the two drivers fought a fierce battle for second place, but the Portuguese held on until the end. Championship leader Yvan Muller (Team RML) is content with fourth place. Although he fought within the same second with his two predecessors for more than half the race, the Alsatian gradually lost ground. If he retains the lead in the Drivers' standings, the three-time WTCC world champion only has a 21-point lead over his Italian rival.
