WTCC – Tom Coronel extends with ROAL Motorsport

One of the most experienced drivers in the WTCC field will be back this season. The Dutch Tom Coronel will be aligned again by ROAL Motorsport on a Chevrolet Cruze TC1 developed by RML and will find the British Tom Chilton.

“Our WTCC team remains unchanged, indicates Team Principal Roberto Ravaglia. I am delighted to continue the cooperation with Tom Coronel. We know him very well, he is part of our family. Last year he was one of the best drivers in the championship even though he was forced to miss two races. We want to race at the highest level, but our goal will be to compete for victories and titles in the Yokohama Trophy. With Coronel and Chilton we have a very reliable pair. »

After his Dakar experience last January, Tom Coronel is actively preparing for his fifth season with ROAL Motorsport. “Preparations for the new year began just after the end of last season, explains the 42-year-old pilot. Being able to race for another year is important. Coming back with ROAL gives me a lot of confidence and a great feeling. Last year we evolved with the Cruze and we had our ups and downs. We learned a lot, which will help us get off to a good start in 2015. From a technical point of view, the car is almost identical to last year. The most important difference is that the blue color is replaced by yellow, the result of the partnership with DHL. »

The official pre-season testing day will take place this Friday in Barcelona before the first round of the championship scheduled for the weekend of March 8 in Argentina, on the Termas de Rio Hondo track.
