Mikel Azcona signs his fourth success of the season. Yet he had never shown himself to be so dominant and master of his subject. After an excellent start, the young Spaniard took the lead at the first corner.

Nathanaël Berthon, who set off alongside him and on the dirty part of the track, experienced a nightmarish flight. While the Iberian took the lead followed by his teammate Norbert Michelisz, the Audi driver fell in the standings to fall back to 6th place.

Berthon will be patient and make a good comeback. By finishing 3rd in this race, the Habs may have regrets. With a better start, he would have been able to disrupt the race of the two Elantras. Nestor Girolami (Honda) for his part experienced a slow agony. From third on the grid, the Argentinian fell back in the rankings, gradually overtaken by Berthon but also Tom Coronel (Audi).

The Dutchman will be penalized for contact on the track allowing the Argentinian to rank 4th in the round. Clearly not at ease, the Honda drivers suffered on the fast and demanding Sakhir circuit. With 53 points behind Azcona, Girolami now faces a wall in his attempt to win the last crown in WTCR history.

See you tomorrow around 07:45 a.m. to follow the conclusion of the penultimate meeting of the World Touring Car Cup season. Girolami will start from 8th place while Azcona, 10th, will try not to be too far behind the South American.
