Yann Ehrlacher wins his second TCR World Tour success
  • The official Cyan Racing- Lynk & Co driver starts from pole position. At his side the formidable Nestor Girolami at the wheel of his brand new Honda Civic type R TCR.
  • At the green lights, the Alsatian retained the advantage of his leading position but he had to be very defensive to prevent the Argentinian from taking control of the race. By attacking the tricolor in this way, Girolami opened the door to Ma Qin Hua who stole second position.
  • The first round is very hectic with in particular Mikel Azcona (Hyundai Motorsport) who is also trying to overtake Girolami to gain 3rd position.
  • At the end of the 3rd lap, Ehrlacher widens the gap at the head of the race. Girolami places a formidable attack on Ma in the penultimate corner of the Hungaroring, the two men remain side by side for many meters with Azcona ready to pounce to take advantage of the slightest opportunity.
  • The Argentinian and the Spaniard found the opening on the Chinese who fell from 2nd to 4th place in race 1.
  • Norbert Michelisz, the leader of the World Tour, is a little further away, slowing down with his ballast obtained for his victory on the Vallelunga track last week.
  • Rob Huff (Comtoyou Racing) is also suffering on the Magyar turnstile after his success in race 2 in the Rome region. The Briton occupies a distant 9th place behind Santi Urrutia and Thed Bjork.
  • Urrutia, who seems a little under the yoke of his French teammate, should regain some color during the next rounds when the TCR World Tour begins its South American tour in Argentina and on its home soil in Uruguay.
  • Budapest is in fact the round which marks the halfway point of the championship and the last of the races contested in Europe. Starting in August, the TCR WT will begin its world tour.
  • Victory for Yann Erhalcher ahead of Nestor Girolami and Mikel Azcona. Norbert Michelisz, the local hero, still leads the regular season but is now tied on points with Cathy Muller's son.
  • The Frenchman is very satisfied with this result: “ I knew that everything was going to be decided at the start, Bebu (Girolami) had a much better start than me and I immediately defended my position. The next step was to manage my tires, even if it seems easy from the screen it was a tricky race, I'm super happy with this new victory, the team gave me a car that was just impeccable. Now we are already focusing on tomorrow's race, we must continue like this.
  • Race 2 will be contested tomorrow at noon again with the double WTCR winner (2020,2021, 10) who will start from XNUMXth place.
