Yvan Muller joins Chevrolet

Yvan Muller, world champion in 2008, vice-champion in 2007 and 2009, will drive Chevrolet in 2010. The Frenchman confirmed his choice, after Eric Nève, head of the American manufacturer's competition in the WTCC, made this transfer official. . Yvan Muller will occupy the seat left vacant by Nicola Larini, who announced his retirement from the WTCC on Saturday. The Frenchman will therefore team up with Robert Huff and Alain Menu, with RML continuing to prepare three cars in 2010.

Yvan Muller therefore decided to "go over to the enemy", without waiting to know Seat's official position. The Iberian brand had, in any case, already decided to downsize, by stopping its collaboration with Oreca, which was preparing the Seat Leon TDi of Tiago Monteiro and Yvan Muller. The 2008 world champion therefore preferred to anticipate a possible total withdrawal from Seat, driving a Chevrolet Crize left free by Nicola Larini.

If Chevrolet did not fight for either the drivers' title or that of the manufacturers, the brand with the golden cross still won six of the twenty-four races this season (10 for BMW, 8 for Seat). It is therefore a new challenge that awaits the Alsatian, who will once again be a candidate for the title in 2010.
