Yvan Muller wants to believe it

This year, Yvan Muller moved from pessimism to optimism. Then leader of the WTCC, the Frenchman continued to see his lead disappear at the top of the general classification. The Frenchman has not always been spared. Sometimes a victim of the regulations silencing the diesel engine of his Leon, Yvan Muller also experienced setbacks in the race, penalizing him during several weekends. But, now that he is no longer leading the championship, optimism predominates.

To get back on track, the Frenchman has the opportunity to score points at Imola, a circuit that all the drivers see to the advantage of the Seat Leon TDi. Unlike Oschersleben, where Muller was unable to advance to Q2 due to weather conditions, Imola was more lenient. The Alsatian was thus able to achieve the best time in Q1, before setting the second time in Q2, behind his teammate but nevertheless opponent in the title race, Gabriele Tarquini. On Sunday, two Seat Leon TDi's will open the first race, against a backdrop of the fight for the championship.

« Today my status has changed, confirms the reigning world champion in the columns of Alsace. Before, I was hunted, now I am a hunter! So I adapt to the situation. Even if I prefer to be chased, because that means I'm in front! » But it is indeed in the hunter position that Yvan Muller will start the first race on Sunday. The Frenchman, who is seven points behind Gabriele Tarquini, will have to win if he wants to quickly return to the title race.
