Adrien Tambay triumphs at Imola

Adrien Tambay, 27 years after his father, Patrick Tambay, former pilot Ferrari en F1, won on the Imola circuit. The young driver won his first success in AutoGP, a new discipline created and following the Euroseries 3000. Richly endowed, this series runs old A1 GP cars and has managed to bring together a solid field, despite the multiplication of single-seater categories.

Starting in second position, the Charouz-Gravity Racing driver did not get off to an excellent start, overtaken by Giorgio Pantano, 2008 GP2 Series champion. The Italian driver thus joined his compatriot Luca Filippi at the head of the race, whom he was able to overtake. After the two men?s pit stop, Adrien Tambay was able to take advantage of a clear track to line up the fast laps. After making his stop, the French driver emerged at the head of the pack, able to fly to victory.

« It’s a great feeling! », Exclaimed the Frenchman after his victory. “ The best moment was when I came out after my pit stop and realized I was in the lead, which meant I had done half the job! I have to thank the other drivers because, even if the start was tough, everyone remained fair play. In the end, I mainly tried to manage my running and my brakes. »
