Aitken replaces Nannini in F2 at Monaco and Baku

The double program of Matteo Nannini (17 years old) ultimately only lasted two weekends. While he had initially decided to ride both in Formula 2 and Formula 3 this year with HWA Racelab, the Italian finally made the choice to leave F2 to concentrate on Formula 3.

It must be said that the difficulty of his first F2 weekend in Bahrain at the end of March, and the promise of a great F3 season after a podium gleaned in Barcelona ten days ago, must have weighed heavily when it came time to take his decision. Even if he mainly talks about an economic problem.

« Due to unfortunate circumstances, my main sponsor Celli Spa ultimately decided not to support my double bill. I will therefore continue only in FIA F3 ", did he declare.

His replacement has already been found. In any case at least for the next two rounds in Monaco, this weekend, and Baku (June 4 to 6) in two weeks. It is in fact Jack Aitken, who took charge of the GT World Challenge after a third year of F2 that did not really live up to his first two encouraging campaigns.

« I was surprised but also very honored that HWA asked me to ride for them, confessed the friendly British pilot. These are two of my favorite tracks and it's going to be nothing but fun. » As a reminder, Jack Aitken has four victories in the antechamber of the F1, including one obtained… in Baku, in 2019.
