The first round of the Super Formula double header contested in Motegi (Japan) this Saturday August 20 highlighted the combativeness of Sacha Fenestraz (Kondo Racing). On a wet track, the Franco-Argentinian took second place after 37 laps of a fierce fight against Naoki Yamamoto (Nakajima Racing).

Faced with the three-time champion of the Japanese discipline, an expert in slippery conditions, there was, however, nothing to be done. The threat in his mirrors embodied by the leader of the general classification Tomoki Nojiri also pushed the Formula champion Renault 2.0 Eurocup 2017 to focus more on preserving second position, with success.

Sacha Fenestraz is reassured by this podium, his fourth in seven rounds in 2022. Indeed, a violent accident in Fuji earlier in the summer had sent him to an observation center at the hospital. Everything is forgotten this Saturday and the Francophone takes the opportunity to climb into second place in the general classification, 10 points ahead of Ryo Hirakawa. As for catching up and overtaking Tomoki Nojiri (Team Mugen), the gap of 30 points before the last three races of the season makes the objective quite audacious.
