Multiple two-race weekends in Super Formula in 2022

JRP, promoter of Super Formula, announced on Monday January 31 a new racing format adopted from the 2022 season.

Of the seven scheduled events, three will take place in Fuji, Suzuka and Motegi and will adopt a two-race format : free practice lasting 90 minutes on Friday, qualifying practice and racing on Saturday and Sunday.

For the rest of the four events, the format remains identical to previous years. There will be a 90-minute free practice session on Saturday before the qualifying session. A second 30-minute free practice session will precede the Sunday race.

The qualifying practices for all weekends will be composed of two sessions: Q1 and Q2 but there will be no more Q3. Refueling will be prohibited during all 2022 races but tire changes will be mandatory.

*The name of “Twin Ring Motegi” will be changed to “Mobility Resort Motegi” from March 1, 2022.
