Sacha Fenestraz, what led you to choose this championship?
Hisashiburi! (In Japanese, “Nice to see you again after a long time.” Ed.) Sure, I had a bit of a rough year in 2024 in Formula E and it ended a little sooner than I thought. I did three years with Toyota as a driver for the brand. I think they were aware of my situation with Nissan in Formula E and I got an email from Toyota saying, remember this is your family. So they gave me another opportunity to come back with them. I'm very happy about that. Everyone knows that I love Japan. I'm very happy to be back and hoping to have a good year.
Did you see the feeling of having an unfinished task, that is to say winning the titles in Super Formula and Super GT?
I'm not thinking about titles yet. I have to get back into the swing of things, get my confidence back with Super Formula, because it's obviously a very different car compared to Formula E. It's a car with a lot more aerodynamic load, very different tyres, etc. I don't have a fixed target yet, but we definitely hope to perform well this season.
Do you intend to participate in these two championships for a few years?
I don't know. It will depend on a lot of things, especially my performances. We'll see how this season and the next one go.
Do you intend to go higher through Toyota?
The dream of the Formula 1 is still there. I have been working with a team as a simulator driver for a few years now. I would like to have the opportunity to test an F1 car. For now, I am focusing on this season.
What about the resurfaced circuits of the newly developed tires for 2025?
The tarmac was quite surprising and quite difficult to get to grips with. A lot of drivers struggled, especially in the first sector. Turn 3 is bumpier now. That will be something important to manage during the race, especially now that the car is much heavier. The tyres have much less degradation. There are a lot of things to learn. It's a shame that the second day was cancelled because of the snow.
