Si en Formula 1 the pilots fear not to overtake on the Red Bull Ring, maybe they should watch Saturday's race from Formula 2. Attacks galore and multiple overtakes punctuated the 40 laps of the long race.
Paradoxically, despite this rich action on the track, the first two men in the qualifying practice kept their position. George Russell (ART GP) won his fourth event of the season, ahead of Lando Norris (Carlin), who manages to keep the lead in the general classification.
Many fights broke out in the peloton. The prize for the most beautiful attack goes to Artem Markelov (Russian Time). In the lead in the staggered stops, entering the pits with four laps to go, the Russian overtook four competitors on the last lap, to take pole for the Sprint Race to the detriment of Nirei Fukuzumi (Arden)!

Third on the podium, Antonio Fuoco (Charouz) gained ten positions throughout the race, and dropped the experienced Roberto Merhi (MP Motorsport) in the final laps. Conversely, Maximilian Günther (Arden) completely missed the end of his stint due to worn tires (12th).
Also animators in Austria, Louis Delétraz (Charouz), Jack Aitken (ART GP) and Nyck de Vries (Prema) gave up after mechanical problems.
