At 21, Caio Collet changed direction in his career. The Brazilian hopeful has decided to pack his bags to try the adventure in the United States in 2024. Before hoping to imitate his compatriots Helio Castroneves (4 victories at the Indianapolis 500) or Tony Kanaan (champion in 2004), the 4 F2018 France champion and Formula vice-champion Renault Eurocup in 2020 will compete in Indy NXT, the equivalent of F2 across the Atlantic.

Caio Collet will be entered by the HMD Motorsports team, whose owner is Henry Malukas, the father of the Arrow driver McLaren en IndyCar, David Malukas. "TheIndyCar is one of my goals for the future, but for now, my focus is 100% on Indy NXT with HMD Motorsports, said Caio Collet. I have a lot to learn and I am grateful for the opportunity given to me. I will do my best to win races, get on the podium and win the championship. »
Caio Collet drove an Indy NXT car for the first time last October with HMD Motorsports during the Chris Griffis Memorial Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. He finished fifth overall, behind series veterans Louis Foster, Jacob Abel and Nolan Siegel, and reigning 2000 USF Pro champion Myles Rowe. He was faster in a November test at Barber Motorsports Park, finishing second in the standings.
Caio Collet also remains reserve and simulator driver for Nissan in Formula E in 2024. The start of the Indy NXT season is scheduled in St Petersburg on Sunday March 10.
