Double blow for Ilott, winner of the main race and new leader of the championship

He missed the opportunity during the sprint race last week, making an error which forced him to retire. This time he didn't let it pass. By winning the main race at Silverstone, in his country, Callum Ilott took control of the championship. The Briton beat Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) and Jack Aitken (Campos). This is his first success in England in the category. He joins his compatriots Aitken (2019) and Ticktum (2020) on the list of English winners here in Formula 2

Intractable at the start, Ilott quickly created a gap with Lundgaard. The Dane, surprised when the lights went out and immediately overtaken by Dan Ticktum (DAMS), regained his place after a wide exit from the Briton in Chapel on lap 3. Behind, it was a battle of tire strategy and Ticktum sank, finishing in 15th place.

Shwartzman hangs on...to the reverse pole

Driven from his leadership seat, Robert Shwartzman (Prema Racing) managed to make a good comeback from his 11th place on the grid. The Russian resisted Guanyu-Zhou (UNI-Virtuosi) at the end of the race to take 8th place, synonymous with pole position thanks to the reverse grid for Sunday's sprint race. The champion of F3 in title will start just in front of his teammate Mick Schumacher (Prema Racing).

Winner of the main race last week, Nikita mazepin (Hitech) confirmed its good form by finishing 4th, just ahead of Louis Deletraz (Charouz) and Yuki tsunoda. For his part, Frenchman Giuliano Alesi (HWA Racelab) finished in 16th place in a decidedly difficult season.
