Brazilian Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) took his third victory of the season in Formula 2, this Saturday, dominating the main race of the Bahrain Grand Prix. On the other hand, it is the first “feature race” won by the rookie of the Dutch team.
Starting 2nd, he managed to take control of the race from the first corner by going inside pole sitter Callum Ilott (UNI-Virtuosi). If the Briton took back the lead momentarily on the 20th lap after an error by the Auriverde when leaving the pits, the latter came back, with much more pace at the end of the race. He even won with a 14 second lead!

In the fight for the title, Ilott nevertheless performed well with his 2nd place, as he finished ahead of the championship leader. Mick Schumacher (Prema), 4th after dangerously bumping into Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) at the end of the race. Ilott therefore takes six points from the German after taking four points from him in qualifying. Before Sunday's sprint race, there is only a twelve point gap between the two men.
One of the performances of the day is to the credit of Yuki tsunoda (Pug). Starting last due to a problem in qualifying, the Japanese delivered a superb comeback. Not only did he finish in the points (6th), but he will even start on the second row for the sprint race on Sunday, behind Marcus Armstrong (ART Grand Prix) and Robert Shwartzman (Prema), the latter starting on pole.
For his first Formula 2 race, Theo Pourchaire (HWA Racelab) finished in 18th place, just ahead of Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix). The Frenchman had a slightly complicated start but showed very good pace in the race. He even gained a few positions before losing some during his pit stop.
