F2 – C1: Lando Norris dominant in Bahrain

At the beginning, Lando Norris (Carlin) took off very well from pole unlike George Russell (ART GP) who lost 4 places on the first lap, the fault of a poor gear shift on the grid. The pilot McLaren takes 2 seconds ahead of Nyck de Vries (Prema Racing) and Sergio Sette Câmara (Carlin).

While there was no shortage of action at the start of the race, Artem Markelov, who started from the pitlane after stalling on the grid, already found himself 10e in the fifth round of an event where all the drivers competing for victory started with the same strategy. The Russian notably offers an excellent skirmish with Maximilian Günther (Arden) for several laps.

Meanwhile, while Norris is far from being worried by the competition, De Vries is in difficulty with his tires and Sette Câmara regains the victory of 2e place. The Dutchman loses two more positions against Albon and Russell before halfway. But the pilot Mercedes is the first of the leaders to stop at 15e lap with 6 other drivers, the undercut paying off by emerging in front of Albon and Sette Câmara after their respective stops. However, the Carlin driver overtook the ART GP driver to seal a double for the returning team in the category.

The last ten laps are dedicated to the battle for the podium with a furious Artem Markelov who enters the top 4 after overtaking a George Russell in distress with his tires, then in the top 3 after a kamikaze move on Albon. The final two laps saw Markelov and Sette Câmara attack and defend their podium positions.

Lando Norris won the first race of the season ahead of Sergio Sette Câmara and Artem Markelov who came up from the pits. Alexander Albon finished just off the podium ahead of George Russell. Nyck de Vries is ahead of his teammate Sean Gelael, also the author of a great comeback from 19e place. Maximilian Günther (Arden) finishes 8e and takes pole position for the second race. Ralph Boschung (MP Motorsport) and Jack Aitken (ART GP) complete the top 10.
