F2 – C1: Third victory for Leclerc

Starting from pole position, Charles Leclerc (Prema) kept the advantage over Nobuharu Matsushita (ART GP) who missed his start. The first lap passed without major incident until the second lap when Johnny Cecotto (Rapax) missed his braking at turn 2 and deployed the safety car on the track.

Nicholas latifi (DAMS) was surprised at the restart by Nyck De Vries (Rapax) who took second place. The first pit stops were made on the 7the lap while Antonio Fuoco (Prema) got on the rear wheel of Sergio Canamasas (Trident). Leclerc and De Vries took advantage of the yellow flag to stop.

Au 11e turn, the virtual safety car appeared to evacuate the car of Nabil Jeffri (Trident) crashed into the barriers following brake problems. A few minutes later, Louis Delétraz (Racing Engineering) was also in the wall, requiring the intervention of the safety car.

Leclerc did not take any unnecessary risks in his attack on the drivers in a shifted strategy, until he found himself under the threat of De Vries. Once Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time) stopped, Leclerc could ride at his own pace at the head of the race.

Three laps from the checkered flag, the battle for reverse pole heated up and pushed Sean Geael to make a mistake, blocking Turn 7 and ending the races of Gustav Malja and Sergey Sirotkin behind him. After a few moments of confusion, the race was stopped definitively, giving victory to Leclerc.

Nyck De Vries and Nicholas Latifi accompanied the Monegasque on the podium. Rowland, Markelov, Norman Born, King, Boschung, Canamasas and Sirotkin completed the top 10 of the race, stopped on the lap before the red flag.
