F2 – C2: Victory for Markelov with panache

On reverse pole, Alex Palou (Campos) got an excellent start and took advantage of the clash between Jordan King (MP Motorsport) and Luca Ghiotto (RussianTime) to take off. Meanwhile, the two Premas engage in a fratricidal duel while overtaking their competitors. At 4e lap, King's engine gave up the ghost and offered second place to Nicholas latifi (DAMS).

Before the halfway mark, both Premas lost pace, forcing them to stop for soft tires. The leaders choose to continue but the rookie Palou encounters a lot of difficulties with his tires and sees Nicholas Latifi (DAMS) and Artem Markelov (Russian Time), the Russian much more comfortable with tire degradation and took the lead with six laps to go. The two DAMS also pass the young Spaniard for the provisional podium.

The last rounds are in favor of Charles Leclerc (Prema Racing) who drives more than 5 seconds faster than the other drivers in front of him. The Monegasque manages to come back in 4e position while it came out 16e after his stop but he made a mistake on the last lap and lost three positions.

Artem Markelov wins the second race of the weekend at Jerez. Both DAMS finished on the podium. Luca Ghiotto is the author of the comeback of the day: last in the first round, he finished 4e. Antonio Fuoco (Prema Racing) is 5e before Nyck de Vries (Racing Engineering) who passes Charles Leclerc on the line. Alex Palou finishes unhappy 8e after leading almost the entire race. Alex Albon (ART GP) and Norman Born (Arden) complete the top 10.
