F2 – Lando Norris joins Campos Racing in Abu Dhabi

Lando Norris will face the pilots of F2 at the end of November during the season finale at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. For his debut, the protégé of McLaren will evolve within the Spanish structure Campos Racing.

Enough to conclude a busy calendar at the end of the year, since the FIA European champion F3 in title will continue between the Macau GP this weekend and the final round of the F2 championship one week apart.

An opportunity which could well shape the future of the British prodigy after a more than convincing F3 campaign. « Having won the Formula 3 European Championship in my first attempt this year, I will move to either Formula 2 or Super Formula in 2018 to pursue my goal of getting to Formula 1, underlines Norris.

Have the opportunity to compete in the last two races of this year's F2 season is therefore a bonus whichever category I choose. It will be the first time that I will compete in a race that includes a mandatory pit stop and it will also be a new experience for me. »

Macau in the viewfinder

Before moving up a notch in the pyramid car, Lando Norris hopes to shine this weekend in the streets of Macau, on the tortuous and tricky Guia circuit. Between the safety barriers and facing the best of the category, a success for Norris would end his 2017 in a very good way.

"CIt will be difficult because in addition to the very impressive peloton and the nature of the track, I lack experience, which is not ideal but Macau is a race where I really wanted to return with Carlin. Even with this disadvantage. »

The Briton, who turns 18 today, will also be lined up this Tuesday at Interlagos for Pirelli tests with McLaren, for whom he will serve as reserve driver in 2018. Lando Norris had also recently tested a Ligier JS P217 at the Paul-Ricard in anticipation of its participation in the cradle ofIMSA at the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida) next January with Phil Hanson and Fernando Alonso.
