Fabio Leimer wins in Barcelona

If Fabio Leimer won the second Barcelona race, he was not the first to stand out. It is Sergio Perez, leader of the first race on Saturday before experiencing a problem in the pit, who was again unlucky. On the formation lap, the Mexican saw his engine go up in smoke, forcing him to stop in the grass. The marshals intervene to ensure that the track is not flooded with oil and a new starting procedure is launched.

Fabio Leimer, in pole position, starts perfectly and comes out of the first turn in the lead. Charles Pic, eighth on the grid but seventh in the standings due to the retirement of Sergio Perez, gained two places and moved up to fifth after the first corner. In the lead, the final trio is already taking shape: Leimer from Luis Razia and Pastor Maldonado. Further on, Jules Bianchi stands out. Starting from the back of the grid, he moved up to twelfth position.

On the other hand, Charles Pic is not at the party since he quickly loses his fifth place to Dani Clos. In the following lap, the Frenchman was attacked by Sam Bird, who took sixth place and last entry into the points.

As the laps go by, Fabio Leimer increases his lead and seems to be flying towards victory. Behind, things are moving. Dani Clos takes on Oliver Turvey and inherits fourth place, before having to return it to the Briton. On the other hand, Sam Bird manages to overtake the two men to slip behind the leading trio. Leimer is therefore ahead of Razia, Maldonado, Bird, Turvey, Clos and Pic.

Despite some attempts to overtake and a great comeback from Razia at the end of the race, the ranking no longer changes and it is therefore the Swiss Fabio Leimer who inherits the six points of victory, while Charles Pic fails to reach the points. . Next meeting next weekend in Monaco.
