For the second meeting of the season, the 22 drivers of Formula 2 are preparing to experience the first full weekend of this 2025 season. The heavy rain had forced them not to take to the track for the main race in Australia, somewhat disrupting the championship standings.

In terms of hierarchy, it appears to depend on tire management and the timing of the exit at the end of this test session. Oliver Goethe (MP Motorsport) set the best time of the session in 1'47''789, two tenths ahead of his teammate Richard Verschoor.

Martins and Meguetounif in good form

Long time 2e, 8 thousandths of a second behind the best time set at the start of the session by Pepe Marti, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) finally finished 4the, ahead of the Italian Gabriele Mini (Prema). For his part, Sami Meguetounif (Trident) having for a time held onto the 4e place, finishes 8e six tenths of a second behind the leader.

The tire degradation mentioned at the start of the weekend is likely to prove decisive. In the final five minutes, the times posted steadily improved by nearly half a second, suggesting strategic pit exits during qualifying. These will be followed at 16:00 PM (French time) this Friday.
