There was suspense right to the end in this Bahrain Sprint Race! While it seemed for a long time to be between Dino Beganovic (Hitech GP) and Joshua Dürksen (AIX Racing), the fight for victory ultimately involved a huge number of drivers. The identity of the winner is a testament to a closely contested event, as it was Josep María Marti (Campos) who emerged victorious, securing his second victory in the process. Formula 2.

Because when the race restarted on the 19th of 23 laps, the Spaniard was only in 6th place. But the animosity on track and the wanderings of some of his rivals ended up helping him. He first easily overtook Rafael Villagomez (VAR) before attacking a completely lost Alex Dunne (Rodin Motorsport). The latter's distress then allowed him to have the podium in his sights.

Having climbed back to 4th, Josep María Marti then took advantage of the duel between the leaders, Joshua Dürksen and Dino Beganovic, to sneak past. Thus, when Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport) in front of him tried to surprise them, it was the Catalan who ended up gaining two positions on the penultimate lap. With a better pace than Dürksen, the Campos driver then made short work of his Paraguayan opponent, attacking him on the last lap and dropping him on the start/finish straight before heading straight for victory alone.

Third behind Richard Verschoor, Joshua Dürksen remains the championship leader with 16 points.

On the French side, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) was quickly pushed out of the fight for the top spots. After an average start, the new protégé of Williams was pushed by Alex Dunne on the outside of the first corner and took off the brake panels, losing his front wing in the process. Forced to return to the pit lane, he took the checkered flag in 15th place. One less than Sami Meguetounif (Trident). The Marseille driver was unable to take advantage of his 4th place on the grid and lost everything in the opening laps.

The Main Race will take place at 13:25 p.m. this Sunday.
