When Theo Pourchaire is in good shape, we cannot say that this goes unnoticed within the paddock. In his latest column published on the website of the Formula 2, this is in any case what the boss of the championship, the Frenchman Bruno Michel, suggested. Indeed not to be outdone during the last two meetings during which he signed 1 victory and 2 podiums, Théo Pourchaire could get involved “in the title race » if he continues at this pace.

Two meetings in two weeks as an epilogue

Building on these last two more than successful race weekends, after having experienced a few gaps and bad luck in Baku and Silverstone, Théo Pourchaire (18 years old) is gradually getting back into the championship. Fifth, just 22 points behind Guanyu-Zhou (Uni-Virtuosi), second in the standings, the young Sauber protégé actually has a card to play at the end of the season. In any case, this is what Bruno Michel thinks, as he confides in his column Guest Column, published this week:

“Since Monza, Théo Pourchaire is back in form. Last time in Sochi, the young Frenchman qualified third, finished fifth in the first sprint race and took second place in the final race, he describes on the official website of the championship. He added 26 points to his tally, only three less than (Oscar) Piastres. Just like his rival F3 In 2020, Pourchaire adapted to F2 with ease. He is currently fifth in the championship, just 22 points behind second-placed Zhou. If the Frenchman confirms his form during the last two rounds of the season, he could invite himself into the title race.

However, the task will be difficult for the young Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes), who is still 58 points behind Oscar Piastri (Prema), whose consistency throughout the season is starting to bear fruit – only 3 races without the slightest update on the 17 already contested. Before Sochi, Théo Pourchaire estimated that arriving on the final podium would already be a very good result, given the misadventures he has experienced this year, even if he does not refrain from aiming for the title.

Pourchaire still has two meetings left to finish the job incumbent on him, while the second seat at Alfa Romeo has not yet found a buyer (rumors insistently announce the arrival of Guanyu Zhou alongside Valtteri Bottas For now). The appointment has now been made: in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), from December 3 to 5, and in Yas Marina (Abu Dhabi), the following week. That’s almost six races in just 9 days! An epic and above all decisive end to the championship for the young drivers in the antechamber of the Formula 1.
