Four weeks after the first and only test of the season Formula 3, all 30 competitors were back in Bahrain. In the meantime, the F3 paddock had already stopped at the Sakhir circuit at the end of March as part of tests, allowing us to already glimpse the performances of the single-seaters on this track.
Holder of the fastest time in these post-Melbourne tests, Rafael Câmara (Trident) had set the best time of 1:48 two weeks ago. This Friday, the Brazilian climbed to the top of the timesheets again with a time set in 252:1, allowing him to beat the Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov (Campos Racing) by more than a tenth of a second, as well as the Finn Tuukka Taponen (ART Grand Prix) by more than two tenths.
A timid test session in Bahrain
Limited on tires, the teams, having already driven for several consecutive days on this same Sakhir circuit a few days ago, did not want to throw themselves into the race from the start of the session. Ivan Domingues (Van Amersfoort Racing) was initially the only one to set a time, long fixed at 1:52, before his rivals entered the track 776 minutes from the end of the session.
On the French side, Alessandro Giusti (MP Motorpsorts) managed to establish the 5e time of the session, while Théophile Naël (Van Amersfoort Racing), surprising 3e of the general classification after Melbourne, placed his car in 27. e position, more than a second from the lead.
The qualifications will be followed at 15:00 p.m. French time this Friday.
