As the track evolved, the standings saw major changes during the 30 minutes of qualifying. From the start, the preparation laps were dense, with many drivers vying for the best positions to launch their fast laps. Although Nikola Tsolov (Campos Racing) was the first to set the fastest time at the halfway point of the session in 1:50, it was ultimately Rafael Câmara (Trident), already the leader of the practice session this Friday morning, who took pole position in 506:1, earning two additional points in the process.
Despite a close finish of just a few thousandths of a second between Callum Voisin (Rodin Motorsport) and Alessandro Giusti (MP Motorsport) before the start of each driver's final attempt, the Briton ultimately finished second, a tenth behind his Brazilian rival. Meanwhile, the Frenchman, currently 2th in the drivers' standings after the first round in Melbourne, is six tenths behind the leader and will start ninth on Sunday.
Thanks to the reverse grid rule for Saturday's race, Alessandro Giusti can hope to optimize his position to score his first points of the season. However, the task is already looking much more difficult for Théophile Naël (Van Amersfoort Racing). The Frenchman will start 22nd.
For the rest of the weekend, Saturday's race will be broadcast at 12:15 p.m. (French time), while Sunday's will take place at 11:55 a.m. (French time).
