End clap for Jenzer Motorsport in Formula 3. Through its founder and principal director Andreas Jenzer, the Swiss team announced that it had not applied for the 2025 to 2027 seasons and that it was withdrawing from the grid at the end of the 2024 season. , the last round of which will take place in Monza (August 30 – September 1).
“My wife Esther and I are approaching retirement age. We have been in GP3 since day one in 2010 and we have really enjoyed Formula 3 too because it is always a pleasure to work with such a high level organization. But one day, we have to start moving on to a second life, perhaps a little calmer”, explained Andreas Jenzer to our colleagues at Formula Scout.
Founded in 1993, the Jenzer Motorsport team has participated in every season since the move from GP3 to Formula 3 in 2019. The modest team has seen drivers like Yuki tsunoda or Taylor Barnard, with whom she had her best season in 2023 (6th place with a victory). Before that, the Swiss team had enjoyed more success in GP3 with two 3rd places in the Teams ranking (2010 and 2017).
An open door to DAMS and R-ace GP in F3?
Andreas Jenzer, however, assured that his Formula 4 teams from Central Europe and Italy “will continue 100%” their activities in 2025. “Some of my employees in Formula 3 will stay at Jenzer Motorsport because they are approaching retirement age. I place several of my employees in Formula 1 and some will probably pass into Formula 2, but nothing strange is happening in the company. We are going to give everything in F4 in order to train good racing drivers. »
The departure of Jenzer Motorsport therefore opens the door to the arrival of a new team in Formula 3. Several teams have already expressed their desire to join the F3 grid in the future, like the French teams DAMS (already present in Formula 2) or even R-ace GP (present in FRECA in particular).
