Formula e – Trulli confirms its withdrawal

The second season of the Trulli stable in Formula e will not have lasted. The training of the former pilot Renault en F1 confirmed its withdrawal with immediate effect of the 2015-2016 championship a few days before the Punta del Este ePrix in Uruguay.

The Swiss-flagged team had been selected as one of eight FIA-approved manufacturers, but did not take part in either of the first two rounds of the season.

Citing delays in customs clearance for some of the components of its Motomatica JT-01 powertrain in Beijing, China last October, the cars were then unable to pass pre-race technical checks in Putrajaya, Malaysia, thus sowing doubt about the viability of his commitment.

“After these failures and in light of our commercial agreement with Formula E Holdings, we are obliged to announce the withdrawal of the Trulli Formula E Team, indicates the formation in a press release. As a supporter of this series, we are giving way to a new manufacturer to help further develop the series and electric racing technology. »

“We are disappointed that Trulli has decided to leave the championship,” continues Alejandro Agag, boss of the discipline. Having a driver like Jarno involved in the early stages of the adventure certainly helped to strengthen the credibility of Formula e.

Making the decision to become a manufacturer was a bold one, with serious challenges due to the technical advances made in Formula e. We are very sad to see Trulli leave, but this will create an opportunity for a new team and manufacturer to join us and we are very confident about the future strength of the series. »

As AUTOhebdo indicated in its n°2038 and in the digital version of its n°2042, Jaguar should however announce today its upcoming arrival in Formula e.
