The final duel for pole position in the second race of Formula E The Berlin final pitted two drivers with impressive statistics against each other. Despite his young career, Taylor Barnard boasts the highest win percentage in head-to-head races on the grid. Facing him, Pascal Wehrlein entered this final with 10 wins in 14 races this season, as well as a pole position secured at Tempelhof just a year ago.

In front of the German crowd, Pascal Wehrlein repeated his feat, securing pole position with a time of 57.292. This marks his third consecutive front-row start at Tempelhof, equaling his performance from 12 months ago in Berlin. The German will start from pole position in the second race of this double-header, hoping to reverse his luck from the previous day, when the pole-sitter failed to convert his pole position into a victory.

Quarter-finals

Young Taylor Barnard had already caused a sensation earlier in the session by winning his duel against Felipe Drugovich. Immediately afterwards, the two Citroëns faced off in a fierce battle where Nick Cassidy prevailed over his teammate Jean-Éric Vergne to secure his place in the semi-finals.

The next duel saw Joel Eriksson deliver a solid performance to finish ahead of Zane Maloney, ending the Barbadian driver's hopes. Finally, the last confrontation of the sequence went in favor of Pascal Wehrlein, the German getting the better of his former teammate António Félix da Costa.

Semifinals

Taylor Barnard delivered a superb performance, overtaking Nick Cassidy to secure his place in the final. This positive result was a welcome one, as the driver had struggled to achieve consistent results since joining DS Penske. In the other duel, Pascal Wehrlein lived up to expectations, prevailing over Joel Eriksson to secure his spot in the final.

The results of the duels

Group A:

Although slower than the previous day's benchmark, Nick Cassidy dominated, clocking a time of 58.440 to seize the fastest time ahead of the surprising Taylor Barnard. The two Citroëns provided plenty of excitement, as Cassidy and Jean-Éric Vergne secured their places in the head-to-head round and will be joined by Felipe Drugovich.

However, the session proved more challenging for Edoardo Mortara, who finished only fifth. The Mahindras, formidable in the duels thanks to the increase to 350 kW and the addition of all-wheel drive, were less dominant during the first phase, which was run at 300 kW. Reigning champion Oliver Rowland, meanwhile, was relegated to ninth place.

Group B:

Although slower than the previous day's benchmark, António Félix da Costa still posted the fastest time in Group B, securing his place. Joel Eriksson also qualified for the head-to-head round, alongside Zane Maloney and Pascal Wehrlein.
