As the 2026/2027 season approaches Formula ECitroën has unveiled a first glimpse of the livery that will adorn its new GEN4. This revelation comes a few weeks after the official confirmation of the French brand's commitment to the new era of the all-electric championship.
Officially run for the first time at Castellet on April 21, the GEN4 marks a technological leap for Formula E. Planned to launch the new era from season 13 for four years, it features permanent all-wheel drive.
It also offers two distinct aerodynamic configurations: one with high downforce for qualifying, the other with low downforce for race conditions, complemented by advanced traction control that limits wheelspin and optimizes grip in all phases. The GEN4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1,8 seconds and has a top speed approaching 335 km/h.
While the GEN3 already reached up to 300 kW of power in standard use and 350 kW in all-wheel drive during qualifying and Attack Mode, the GEN4 climbs to 450 kW in race mode and up to a maximum of 600 kW. Regenerative braking range is increased by 100 km, reaching 700 kW, with the aim of further optimizing energy recovery.
Delivered in keeping with Citroën's DNA
The provisional livery features the iconic double chevrons with a gradient that wraps around the bodywork. This design follows on from the one introduced for the 2025/26 season livery, creating a layered visual effect that is gradually revealed as you get closer to the car. emphasizes Pierre Leclercq, design director at Citroën. The livery we are presenting this week is a “camouflage” livery, designed as a transition before the introduction of a more expressive and dynamic identity, incorporating the colours of Citroën and its French heritage. »
With this GEN4, Citroën intends to capitalize on the foundations laid during its first season in Formula E, with already 61 points scored between its two drivers, Frenchman Jean-Éric Vergne and New Zealander Nick Cassidy.
