This is an important chapter that is about to close in Formula EHaving participated since the 2015-2016 season, DS Automobiles has officially announced its intention to end its program at the conclusion of season 12 (2025-2026). This strategic decision comes after more than a decade of involvement at the highest level, during which the French brand established itself as one of the sport's most successful manufacturers. With four titles, 18 victories, 55 podium finishes, and 26 pole positions in 142 races, the Stellantis Group manufacturer leaves the championship with an impressive record.
Beyond the results, this commitment has primarily served as a technological laboratory, enabling the development of solutions subsequently integrated into series models, particularly in terms of electrification and energy management. "After 11 years of pioneering involvement in Formula E, 18 victories, 2 drivers' titles, 2 constructors' titles, DS Automobiles has demonstrated its ability to transform competition into technological reality."Xavier explains Peugeot , CEO of DS Automobiles. Rather than a complete withdrawal from motorsport, this decision is part of a broader reorientation of the brand's activities.
DS Automobiles now intends to focus its efforts on SailGP, the international foiling sailing championship, with which it has formed an alliance around the French team. This change of discipline reflects a logic of technological continuity. The challenges related to aerodynamics, drag reduction, and the optimization of composite materials offer new development opportunities, consistent with the manufacturer's industrial ambitions. "To further enhance French excellence, we are now taking a new step by directing our partnership strategy towards SailGP, a unique innovation laboratory where technological performance and emotion meet."Xavier Peugeot continued.
A gradual departure, without an immediate break
Despite this announcement, DS Automobiles does not intend to leave Formula E immediately. The brand remains committed until the end of the current season, determined to remain competitive and conclude its adventure on a positive note. Despite a difficult start to the season, DS Penske is currently ninth out of ten constructors, with its best result being a fourth-place finish for Taylor Barnard in Mexico, after starting second. His teammate, Maximilian Günther, did no better than sixth place in São Paulo. This weekend, on Saturday, March 21, the French manufacturer will be competing in the Madrid E-Prix, aiming to fight for a podium finish.
This gradual transition also allows us to prepare for the future, by structuring projects around SailGP while capitalizing on the experience gained in car electric. Formula E has thus played a key role in the transformation of DS Automobiles, both technologically and in terms of its image. By leaving Formula E, DS is not turning its back on innovation, but simply choosing a new arena to continue exploring the technologies of tomorrow.

Not really a surprise when you know that Jean-Eric Vergne, already involved in Formula E with DS Automobiles since 2015, had chosen Citroën for the 2026 season. He must have been informed in advance, unlike Barnard and Günther!

Our French manufacturers are in a bind. Renault, which is now just a name in F1, withdrew from the WEC at the end of the year with a disappointing result; DS, which is withdrawing from a phantom formula; Citroën, which is no longer in WRC2; and Peugeot, which is merely making up the numbers in the WEC! It's enough to make you weep with sadness, turn green with shame, or even blush with anger!

A logical decision, for a formula… that has no merit whatsoever. When will this formula be definitively discontinued…? 😎👎

ZERO media coverage. One might wonder what the point of Formula E is, apart from giving a platform to drivers who don't have a seat elsewhere.

I'm not sure that FE has done much for the notoriety of the DS brand, which is lagging.
