Jakarta – Qualifying: Dennis on pole, Rowland only 16th on the grid

For its first season in Formula ETaylor Barnard continues to impress. The Briton once again made it to the final qualifying round in Jakarta, where a small mistake cost him pole position. It ultimately went to Jake Dennis, the Season 9 champion, who had been chasing him for over a year.

Still, it's a very good result for Barnard in terms of the championship, as the other favorites have completely missed out. None of the top three in the Drivers' standings have reached the quarter-finals. The highest-placed driver, António Félix da Costa, is only 9th: a boon for Barnard, who is only two points behind the Portuguese in the championship.

Due to a messy lap, with multiple errors, Oliver Rowland will only start 16th. Hampered by traffic, notably by his own teammate, the Briton was unable to complete a clean lap. If Jakarta was supposed to be the last chance for their championship rivals, Pascal Wehrlein did no better: the German is 17th, penalized for having hindered his rivals.

On the French side, Jean-Éric Vergne set the fastest time in Group A, before being overtaken by Nick Cassidy in the quarterfinals. The DS Penske driver will be 8th on the grid, well ahead of his compatriot Norman Nato, who is only 21st. This was a qualifying session to forget for Nissan.

The race will start at 10:00 a.m. French time this Saturday.
