The fourth generation of the Formula E, which will be its debut for the 2026/27 season, is highly anticipated, with significantly improved performance compared to its predecessors. The goal of the all-electric championship is to reach at least the level of the F2, or even above, and thus only have the Formula 1 even the Japanese Super Formula ahead in terms of the fastest single-seaters in the world.

The traditional pre-season tests will be the first real opportunity to see whether Formula E's gamble has paid off, and they will take place from November 16th to 20th at the Jarama circuit in Spain. The Madrid track replaced Valencia as the host circuit for the 2024 tests at short notice, following the severe flooding that affected the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.

It now appears that the Jarama circuit, which also hosted the Madrid E-Prix earlier this year, is becoming Formula E's preferred location for pre-season testing. Due to Formula E's unique calendar, few circuits can accommodate teams in mid-November in conditions that accurately reflect what they will encounter during the season.

Jarama will thus allow for an objective comparison from the outset between the performance of the GEN3 Evo, which is currently in its last season, and the GEN4, which is expected to propel Formula E into a new era of performance.

It's a shame Jarama wasn't modernized like Zandvoort to spare us the MadRing...
