After Porsche, Nissan, Jaguar and Lola, it is Maserati's turn to announce its commitment to the Gen4 of the Formula E. The Italian manufacturer thus ensures its presence in the electric championship until 2030, while the Gen4 will be introduced for Season 13 (2026-2027). The trans firmalpine, which is part of the Stellantis group in the same way as Peugeot , Citroën or DS Automobiles, is therefore the fifth manufacturer to confirm its long-term commitment to Formula E.

The Maserati name made a comeback in car in 2023, succeeding Venturi in Formula E. The Italian-Monegasque team shares the same powertrain as sister team DS Penske, developed at Stellantis Motorsport's premises in Satoty, in the Paris region. Moreover, while Maserati's future is now assured in Formula E until 2030, DS's is a little more unclear: Stellantis could be tempted to enter only one of its brands in the discipline for Gen4.
“We are delighted to announce Stellantis Motorsport’s commitment to Maserati for the next Gen4 of Formula E, said Jean-Marc Finot, Vice President of Stellantis Motorsport. For over 10 years, we have been developing high-efficiency powertrains for DS and Maserati, and we will continue to work on these road-relevant technologies in a championship as competitive and promising as Formula E. The conditions for the involvement of the other Stellantis brands will be specified at a later date.
In the last two seasons with Gen3, Maserati has won two races thanks to Maximilian Günther, now at DS Penske, and with a best finish of 6th in the Teams' Championship in 2023. For the arrival of Gen3 Evo, the Italian firm will rely on a completely new line-up with Stoffel Vandoorne – 2022 world champion – and Jake Hughes, a transfer from McLaren.
