This is another step towards Opel's official arrival in Formula EThis is expected with the arrival next December of the fourth generation of electric single-seaters. The German brand participated in public testing at Paul Ricard, allowing observers to see for the first time on track what will be called the Opel GSE 27FE.

For Opel, this presence in Formula E serves both as a testing ground for its future electric models and as an increasingly significant presence in motorsport. At the Circuit Paul Ricard, all models in the GSE range were present around the car of the Stellantis group.

"Opel GSE follows a clear strategy: Race. Drive. Play. And 2026 will clearly be the year of competition.", says Rebecca Reinermann, Vice President of Marketing for the German brand. "We are demonstrating how exciting and relevant electric performance can be for Opel."

Opel, which will join Citroën as a Stellantis group brand involved in Formula E, expects to complete around fifteen days of testing after this public presentation at the Circuit Paul Ricard, where Jaguar was also present, as well as the four generations of Formula E, a championship launched in 2014.

"What we are presenting today goes far beyond a simple prototype.", explains Jörg Schrott, Team Principal of the Opel GSE Formula E Team. “The Opel GSE 27FE is a true rolling laboratory: every technology tested in racing will directly feed into our future GSE production models. After many hours on the test bench, the complete powertrain is now fully integrated. The first track tests will begin in May.”, explains Jörg Schrott. "We are planning approximately 15 days of testing on various European circuits before the start of the season."

Brand development driver Sophia Flörsch took to the track behind the wheel of the Opel GSE 27FE, which sported its test livery for the occasion. The car's final livery will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. "After the initial simulator tests, getting behind the wheel of Opel's Formula E GEN4 for the first time on the track is an indescribable moment.", confides Sophia Flörsch. "Instant acceleration, this completely new performance... we're touching the future of motorsport. And I'm ready to push the limits."
