  • Mitch Evans scores a very nice achievement even before the first E-Prix of the weekend, in Portland! The New Zealander obtained his second pole position of the season and also won the three points offered to the pole sitter. The Jaguar driver, the fastest throughout qualifying, successively beat Lucas di Grassi, Jake Hughes and finally Norman Nato in the final.
  • The Frenchman posted his best performance in qualifying this season, but he will not start from 2nd place on Saturday for the Portland E-Prix 1. The Andretti driver was penalized 10 places on the starting grid, after receiving another reprimand on Friday during FP1, for speeding under Full Course Yellow. A third reprimand in this 2024 campaign, which means a heavy sanction on the grid, at the worst time... Norman Nato will therefore start from 12th place.
  • If Mitch Evans performed well, it is also because the two other protagonists of the championship had a more difficult qualifying session: Nick Cassidy and Pascal Wehrlein, respectively first and second in the Drivers' classification, were eliminated from the phase of group. The New Zealander set the 8th time in Group A, while the German failed at the gates of the Duels with the 5th time in Group B. The two rivals will start at the heart of the peloton.
  • The other French entrants were also eliminated in the first phase of qualifying: Jean-Éric Vergne, hampered in his last lap launched by Sergio Sette Camara, only set the 9th fastest time in Group A. The Brazilian was also penalized three places on the grid for this maneuver. For his part, Sacha Fenestraz set the 8th time in Group B... behind his temporary teammate, Caio Collet, who replaces an ill Oliver Rowland this weekend in Portland.
