CL Motorsport has officially announced its driver lineup for the 2026 FREC season with three drivers: Enea Frey, Reno Francot, and Frenchman Jules Roussel. For the team, which is competing in its second consecutive season in this highly competitive championship, the objective is clearly defined. Team coordinator David Li summarizes their ambitions: “Our priority is to continue improving race after race, focusing on every detail to become more and more competitive. We have drivers who combine talent with strong development potential, and we are confident in our ability to take a significant step forward during the season.”

For Jules Roussel, the FREC represents the natural continuation of a winter of intensive preparation. The Nantes-based driver competed in the FRMET championship — Formula Regional Middle East Trophy — at the beginning of the year, specifically to prepare for this European season. His objective at the time was clear: “The next step would be to compete in the FREC championship, which is the main championship. In the FRMET, there are fewer races, so it was simpler to do, especially in terms of funding. We're also giving ourselves more time to secure the budget. In the meantime, we can start developing the car with the team.”he told AUTOhebdo last January.

A demanding eight-round schedule

For Roussel, who had never raced above Formula 4 before this winter, moving up to FREC represents a significant step forward. His mentality towards the unknown remains the same as the one that allowed him to win in Macau on November 16th — and probably the same one that will help him discover this new generation of single-seaters: “I don’t think many people have even tried the new FREC in a simulator. No one has actually driven it, or at least not the exact version. It would need to be fully modeled, which we haven’t done. We’ve been driving a different version. But we’ve already seen some interesting things that worked on the old one. That could be very useful for future categories.”, he explained to us before the start of his campaign in FRMET.

The Frenchman will therefore discover this new car For the 2026 FREC season, which runs from April to September over eight rounds, all held on iconic circuits of the European calendar. The season will kick off in Spielberg (Austria) on the weekend of April 24-26, before continuing to Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, the Hungaroring, Paul Ricard, Imola, and Hockenheim to conclude in September. This packed schedule will allow Jules Roussel to compete against the best young European drivers on a variety of tracks, from fast circuits like Monza to more technical layouts like Hockenheim.
