The redemption of Taylor Barnard. The Briton, often unlucky this season, finally won during Race 3 in Kuwait, his second victory of the season. The PHM Racing driver, who started 4th on the grid, managed to move up to first and win his duel against Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
The Italian had taken control of the race from the first lap, slipping away by more than 10 seconds at the halfway mark... but the championship leader quickly lost pace in the final laps. Penalized by 5 seconds for having overtaken off-road at the 2nd turn, the protégé from Mercedes first gave way on the track to Taylor Barnard, then fell to 4th place after his sanction was applied. He ultimately finished behind his Mumbai Falcons teammates, Rafael Camara and Lorenzo Fluxa.
Starting from pole position, Sami Meguetounif lost several positions in the first lap and had to settle for 5th place.
In the championship, Andrea Kimi Antonelli now has 136 points against 92 for his runner-up, Taylor Barnard, before the last two meetings of the FRMEC championship. Next meeting in Dubai, on February 11 and 12.
