It took a month to see Andrea Kimi Antonelli occupy the top step of the ranking. The Italian driver won Race 1 in Kuwait, his first victory of 2023. The protégé of Mercedes, who represents the Mumbai Falcons team, beat his teammate Rafael Camara and Mari Boya (Hyderabad Blackbirds by MP Motorsport).
The Italian notably benefited from an eventful start for the MP Motorsport drivers. The two drivers at the top of the grid – Joshua Dürksen and Sami Meguetounif, collided at the end of the long straight on the first lap. The Paraguayan failed to brake, hitting the Frenchman from behind. The Paraguayan fell to last place in the standings, while the Frenchman was able to restart in the middle of the peloton, without damage. The two teammates finally retired at the end of the race.
A race interrupted by a long period of Safety Car, to free the immobilized car of Ayato Iwasaki, replacing Pepe Marti. Mari Boya, who started 3rd and leader at the end of the first lap, was unable to resist the charge of Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Spaniard still saves the furniture of the Indo-Dutch team with a podium, just behind Rafael Camara.
