Member of the Nissan sector after revealing himself via the GT Academy, the Briton Jann Mardenborough will discover the championship GP2Series this weekend in Italy on the Monza track, for the eighth meeting of the season. It is at the wheel of one of the Carlin team's single-seaters that the 23-year-old driver will compete, replacing Sean Gelael, who is entered at Silverstone in Formula Renault 3.5.
“I’m extremely excited to drive a GP2 car for the first time. It was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. I want to access this series in the future and having this experience now is very valuable. I want to be competitive, but the challenges are very different from GP3.
There's DRS, two types of tires, as well as longer runs and pit stops, although I'm used to this in sports cars. There's going to be a real step to take, but I'm going to give it my all. »
This year, Jann Mardenborough notably defends the colors of Carlin in GP3Series, but also from Nissan in Blancpain GT Series, and took part in 24 Hours of Le Mans on the GT-R LM Nismo.
