GP2 – Pierre Gasly in the lead in Abu Dhabi testing

Pierre Gasly (Dams) set the fastest time during the first of three days of GP2 Series testing at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. The Formula vice-champion Renault 3.5 Series clocked a time of 1’48”897, ahead of Arthur Pic (Campos Racing) by half a tenth. Trident riders Raffaele Marciello and René Binder were closest to the French.

The first part of the session allowed the drivers to discover the DRS now present on single-seaters on a dirty track subject to winds. The session was interrupted for half an hour for adjustments before a red flag came up following Marlon Stöckinger (Status GP) stopping on track. Alexander Red (Racing Engineering) finished in the lead at the break with a time of 1’50”845.

The session was interrupted again in the second half when Julian Leal (Carlin) stopped on track. Pierre Gasly produced the performance of the day ten minutes from the end.

The complete results of the test session can be consulted on this link.
