GP2 – Stoffel Vandoorne on pole at home

Solid leader of the championship upon arriving on his land, the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne did not miss the opportunity to shine this Friday at Spa-Francorchamps. Already author of the best time in free practice, the ART Grand Prix driver dominated qualifying by completing a lap in 1'56 "278.

The closest pursuer of the national hero is the current leader of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, namely the British Oliver Rowland. The resident of the MP Motorsport team in GP2 continues his promising debut in the discipline (after a tenth and a seventh place in England) by climbing to the front row, 147 thousandths behind Vandoorne.

Just behind, tomorrow we will find the Russian Sergey Sirotkin (Rapax) and the Briton Jordan King (Racing Engineering). Pierre Gasly (DAMS), seventh, is the best French representative. Norman Nato (Arden) will start from tenth place.

Arthur Pic (Campos Racing) and Nathanaël Berthon (Team Lazarus) will start from the 14th and 19th positions. The main race will take place tomorrow from 15:40 p.m.
