GP2: Valsecchi takes a hat-trick in Bahrain

Giedo van der Garde (Caterham Racing) had a successful start from pole and could hope to take victory in Race 1 in Bahrain, but Davide Valsecchi decided otherwise. The Dams driver, winner of both races the previous weekend at the Sakhir circuit, made a good start from the front row and took the lead of the race by overtaking the Dutchman on lap eight. The Caterham driver also failed to resist the pressure from Fabio Leimer (Racing Engineering) and ultimately only reached the last step of the podium behind the Swiss.

Luiz Razia (Arden International) ranks fourth ahead of the two Carlin drivers Max Chilton and Ryo Haryanto. Felipe Nasr (Dams) finished in seventh position ahead of Marcus Ericsson (iSport International) who had nevertheless made a spectacular flight from ninth position. This rank is finally taken by the Frenchman Tom Dillmann (Rapax) who is ahead of Johnny Ceccoto Jr (Barwa Addax Team). After starting from 16th place, Nathanaël Berthon (Racing Engineering) ranks 12th.
