Gutiérrez, leader after Turkey

The Mexican started in second position behind Nigel Melker (RSC Mücke Motorsport) who took pole position in 1:46:361, barely two tenths better than the ART GP driver. After the pole man fell to the bottom of the classification, Esteban Gutiérrez won the victory, by setting the fastest lap in the race, allowing him to obtain the maximum points in one race (10 + 1 point for the fastest lap) . He is ahead of Manor Racing driver James Jakes, who made a superb comeback from eighth place on the grid. The podium is completed by Felipe Guimaraes, from the Addax Team, who started just in front of the Englishman.

The second race, which offers fewer points than the first, was won by Indonesian Manor Racing driver Rio Haryanto. Miki Monras (MW Arden) and Alexander Red (ART GP) complete the podium. The winner of the first race finished in seventh place, just outside the points, but still managed to get the point awarded for his second fastest lap in the race.

Formula drivers Renault 3.5 had a tough weekend in Türkiye. Stefano Coletti (Tech One Racing) and Mikhail Aleshin, who replaced Lucas Foresti at Carlin, collided during the first race, forcing them to retire. The Russian driver could not do better than 22nd place in the second race while Coletti could not do better than 14th.

Esteban Gutérriez, who is five points ahead of his closest rival, Alexander Rossi, will have to secure his leadership position while trying to widen the gap on the weekend of June 26 at the Valencia circuit in Spain.
