Hülkenberg takes off

After a chaotic qualifying session in Formula 1, the Hungaroring GP2 race starts a few minutes late. But the Hungarian track seems cursed this Saturday and, in turn 2, an accident pits several cars against each other. Zuber, Valerio, Perez and Razia are out of the race from the first lap. For his part, pole sitter Lucas di Grassi succeeded in taking off, unlike Vitaly Petrov. The teammate of Romain Grosjean is in difficulty and continues to lose ground. After four laps, the Russian is eleventh and says goodbye to points. However, he had the possibility of taking back the reins of the championship in the event of a good result.

While Herck and Nunes hold on, Hulkenberg rises towards the head. Starting in fifth position, the German from the ART Grand Prix team has been on cloud nine since his double victory at the Nürburgring. After a quarter of an hour of racing, he is in third position, behind Villa, who himself is threatening di Grassi. After pitting, the German driver emerged in front of Villa, and overtook di Grassi shortly after.

Thanks to the pit stops of his rivals, Vitaly Petrov stealthily takes the lead, but is overtaken by Nico Hülkenberg, determined to escape. At the same time, Romain Grosjean is grabbing positions. Starting 25th, the Frenchman is in the top 12 after overtaking Edoardo Mortara. Lap after lap, Nico Hülkenberg escaped in the lead, not giving Lucas di Grassi the opportunity to threaten him.

The end of the race only confirms the first trends. At the front, the trio is immutable, with Hülkenberg of the great days, di Grassi and Villa trailing more than twelve seconds a few laps from the finish. Grosjean makes a final overtake on Clos and ranks 10th. At the forefront, Hülkenberg finished with 15?? ahead of his pursuers. Maldonado, 4th, finished a few tenths from the podium and ahead of Valsecchi, Flippi, Van der Garde and Rigon, who will start on pole on Sunday. In the championship standings, the good deal is for the winner of the day, who escapes to first place and takes an option on the title.
