Jean Alesi has not yet managed to complete all the phases of the Rookie Orientation Program to compete in the Indy 500, but the main thing for the Fan Force United driver was to already get his bearings by discovering driving on ovals. If the speeds reached are impressive and even if his times were still more than seven seconds behind the best time achieved the day before, the Lotus ambassador does not seem to have been impressed.
“Everything takes a first time”, comments Jean Alesi. “It’s an important day and I’m happy to be in Indianapolis with Lotus on this superb circuit. There's a certain tension when you leave the pits, but you feel at home as soon as you shift up the gears and increase the speed. I've been in motorsport for a long time but I've never driven on an oval and I'm really happy to have achieved this. »
