IndyCar – Ed Carpenter wins in Texas

We left Ed Carpenter on May 25 on the Indianapolis oval extremely disappointed, he who had achieved the pole for the 500 miles and played in the leading trifecta for most of the race. But a collision with James Hinchcliffe (Andretti Autosport – Honda) after a restart sent him into the wall, and with it his dreams of success at Indy. Last night in Texas, the boss and driver took advantage of an error by Will Power in the pits during his last stop, penalized for speeding in the pitlane, to win. Because it was undoubtedly the driver of the #12 DW12 from Team Penske who was the strongest yesterday. Power led 145 laps yesterday, but his last stop cost him the victory, since he returned to the peloton after his drive-through, he nevertheless managed to return to second place right in the wheels of the winner.

Juan-Pablo Montoya (Team Penske – Chevrolet) completes the podium, his first since his return to car in the USA. This performance follows his very good Indianapolis 500, where again, the Colombian driver was penalized for speeding in the pits. A recurring sanction at Penske, as Will Power pointed out. “ Four drive-throughs in five races is not good. » declared the one who remains leader of the general. Behind this trio of Chevrolet engines which had already dominated qualifying, we find the first Honda single-seater, that of simon pagenaud, excellent 4th this Saturday, and which consolidates its 4th position in the championship. The cars powered by the Japanese engine did not shine in Texas since Chevy placed eight cars in the top 10. Sébastien Bourdais (KV Racing – Chevrolet) was forced to retire after a collision caused by Justin Wilson (Dale Coyne Racing – Honda) on the 118th lap.

The next meeting of theIndyCar will take place in Houston on June 28 and 29, with two rounds on the program.
